Wildcat is a DC Comics superhero whose identity is primarily associated with Theodore "Ted" Grant. First appearing in *Sensation Comics* #1 (January 1942), Ted Grant is a world-class heavyweight boxer who becomes a costumed crimefighter after being framed for murder.
Trained by former boxer Joe Morgan, who also trained heroes like the first Atom, Ted Grant possesses peak human strength, agility, and endurance. He's also a master of hand-to-hand combat. Later storylines explain his extended lifespan and enhanced resilience through the use of a mystical potion. This allowed him to continue fighting well into advanced age.
Wildcat has been a member of various superhero teams, most notably the Justice Society of America. He's a mentor to younger heroes, passing on his fighting skills and experience. Though sometimes portrayed as gruff, he possesses a strong moral code. He often acts as a father figure to characters like Black Canary.
